Happy Spring!


Last week, I said a wistful goodbye to winter and welcomed in spring while sitting under swaying palm trees, listening to mockingbirds and watching hummingbirds flit about in the citrus trees in Palm Desert, CA.

It's still brown and dusty here in Denver, no signs of spring greenery yet -- but work begins anew. New canvases are being prepared, paintings for shows are getting crated and sent, papier mache vessels are in various states of  being, and of course, the almost daily works on paper continue to be made (for better or worse).

Spring planting, such as I can manage in our wee space (containers!) is still a couple of months away, but until then I want to share a few artist blogs that I love to read year round. They are an exceptional read for not only art-related stuff but for their other focus on the outdoors and gardening. Don't miss them!

My mailbox contained a wonderful treat on Friday...a lovely gelatin monotype by artist, Martha Marshall . Gelatin Monotype by Martha Marshall My collection of other artist's small works is growing and I'm delighted that this piece is included. I'll be making some monotypes in the near future and Martha will choose one to complete our trade - love doing that!

36 Droplets

I like seeing them as a large group - they seem to make more sense that way than as individual rain drops. Can't wait to see all 100 together, although just seeing them as images will have to do. I doubt I could ever afford to frame all 100 and even if I did, what would I do with them? Most of my works-on-paper are put into my works-on-paper binders, and occasionally I thumb through them like a child rummaging through the odd assortment of baubles in a hidden treasure chest. These are my personal artistic obsession and not really meant for commercial purposes (monotypes excepted), so I'll entertain myself by grouping them here on my blog.  To date, there are 75 completed Days of Rain. I will continue to post them until the rainy season comes to end.
